Cat Lounge Helper’s main responsibilities are being helpful for Feline Guardian on duty, enforcing the Cat Lounge rules and help facilitate a wonderful experience for both cats and human. This can means volunteers would be spend most of their time ushering visitors in and out of the cat lounge, answering questions that visitors may have, helping with cleaning tasks, maintaining a clean lounge environment, and sometimes helping with cat care. We expect reliability, punctuality, and overall good attitude and energy.

Transport:

Having transports available makes our operation much smoother! Helping with transports includes picking up cats from a specific location and bringing them to the cafe, driving cats to and from surgery or other vet appointments. Or picking crucial supplies. You must have your own vehicle, valid insurance, and flexible availability. Cats must remain in their carriers the entire time during transport.

Other possible Roles include:

Outreach and Events - Help with our and community outreach and offsite events
Cat blanket makers - We periodically update our cat blankets, and beds. If you are handy and have a sewing machine, and would like to make cat blankets at home and deliver them to us, we could use your help!

Specialty Skills - If you have professional or specialty skill that you think may be helpful such as vets and vet technicians, general contractors, IT professionals, fundraising and/or events specialists, grant writers, web/social media professionals, photography/videography, and possible other skills, let us know ! !
Foster: We currently do not have a foster program in place, but may have in the future.

Volunteer FAQ

How old do you have to be to volunteer?

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. All volunteers who are under 18 years old must provide their parent/guardian’s agreement signature.

How long does it take between attending new volunteer orientation to when you begin to volunteer?

It depends largely on our needs and if you’re qualified and available to make a commitment to an open position, and our availability to schedule you for orientation and training.

Do I have to work a regularly scheduled shift in order to volunteer?

It depends on the volunteer role and our needs. Transport volunteers and "at home" volunteers have great flexibility as to when they choose to donate hours. Most of the other volunteer roles require a commitment to a regular weekly shift for 3-4 hours - for example, from noon to 3 p.m. every Monday for a regular period of 3 months.

May I receive credit for school community service for volunteering?

Yes. Please note that we will sign your completed service hours at the end of your agreed upon commitment.

Can I complete my court-ordered community service hours here?

Yes. You must notify the Volunteer Manager in advance. The crime must be disclosed in advance, and the Operations Manager must approve the service in advance. Please note that we will sign your completed service hours at the end of the three-month commitment.

Do you have any group volunteer opportunities?

Occasionally we will have a larger projects that can utilize a group of volunteers. Such as making cat cozy blankets, organizing a small fundraiser, putting up posters in the community, making YouTube videos. However group opportunities are pretty rare. Please contact us if you are interested in a group opportunity.
